If you used the QuickStart package to set up your site, then this is quite easy as both the slider variations are present for you - you simply assign the alternate slideshow module (this module is called Feature Slider in the quickstart package and is published in the feature position) to the homepage and un-assign or unpublish the homepage slider module (the homepage slider is published in the showcase module position).

If you're building out your site from scratch, the please refer to the documentation link below and follow the steps for setting up the Feature slider module.
